Joan R. Henry
Doctoral Candidate
Founder/President
The company was founded by Joan Henry in 2008. Joan began her ambitious quest to develop WEE is due in part to her passion to bring together business women from various business sectors, to provide tips, tools, resources, and strategies to help budding entrepreneurs or to help established entrepreneurs take their business to the next level through leadership, education, and national recognition. Her persistence and commitment to develop an avenue for women to come together has been constant for the past eleven (11) years. Over the years, the platform that Joan created has become a life changing opportunity to help others become successful in business. One of the primary central focuses of the expo is the ability to network, which is one of the most crucial skills any entrepreneur can have.
According to the Center for Women’s Business Research, $10 million firms are owned by women (50% or more), employing more than 13 million people, and generating $1.9 trillion in sales in 2014. Due to this statistical information, the topics that are presented during the expo are informative, educational, and motivational. To ensure that she is able to promote entrepreneurship both locally and internationally, Joan became an International Talk Show Host of the Joan Henry Radio Show. Her show can also be downloaded from iHeart Radio, Google Play Music, iTunes, and many other podcasting sites. Joan is also the Executive Director for a non-profit organization, RESA Inc. which is an organization that is dedicated to impacting the lives of women and girls of all ages that are disadvantaged by societal or economic circumstances. The Initiative enables women and girls to enhance their quality of life (www.resawomen.org). Joan enjoys being an agent of change in the lives of the people with whom she comes in contact, directly and indirectly. Joan has authored and published a book titled “The Power of a Positive Mindset.”
Joan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services from the Audrey Cohen College in Manhattan, New York, a Master’s degree in Social Work from Howard University in Washington, DC, and is currently pursuing her (DBA) Doctorate in Business Administration, with a focus on Management, with Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. Her work experience has given her the opportunity to work collaboratively with health care professionals, criminal justice professionals, and in various entrepreneurial capacities, to include motivational speaking at various seminars, shelters, and schools. Joan is a woman of integrity, a woman with a relentless determination to help promote women-owned businesses. As an entrepreneur, she knows the benefits of being a business owner. As she puts it “Only the best is good enough.”
